Meet our Leadership Team

Elder

Larry Byers

Hey there! I’m Larry and I have been attending FPBC for the past 18 years. Throughout this time, I have served in many capacities at FPBC but currently I am serving as Head Elder. I’ve always had a desire to learn and serve and, through this role, God has provided me the opportunity to do this, as well as hone my skills in teaching, preaching and counseling. The people at FPBC are wonderful and easy to love and I am so thankful for all God has done in our little church and the people in it. Outside of church, I enjoy playing, not watching, sports and playing chess when I can find a worthy opponent.  I also have 2 daughters, 1 son and 2 grandchildren that I enjoy spending time with anytime I have the opportunity.

Favorite Bible verse: Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.”

Elder (acting)

Andrew Velasquez

Hey! I’m Andrew.  I have been attending FPBC for the past 7 years and have been a member of the leadership team for almost 3 years. In total, however, I have been involved in ministry service in some capacity for 24 years. On the leadership team, I am currently serving as an Acting Elder and prior to this served as a Deacon. Elders are accountable to the Lord for the critical responsibility of providing leadership and oversight of the local church. It's humbling to serve in such a capacity and it's one I do not take lightly. In addition to this role, I am also the head of the Security Ministry.  In today's threat environment, working to ensure the safety and security of our congregants is top priority for me. At FPBC, we strive to maintain a safe and secure environment during Sunday services and throughout the week during church sponsored activities and programs. In my free time, I enjoy reading the Word and making the most of leisure opportunities like watching a good movie or enjoying a good, hearty meal at a local establishment to unwind and decompress.

Favorite Bible verse: Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing, and perfect will.”

Deacon

Carl Badami

Hey! My name is Carl and I have been attending FPBC for the past 6 years.  I became a Deacon 5 years ago and I am blessed to be able to serve my church in this capacity. In addition to Deacon, I serve in the Men’s Small Group, Youth Group, the Security Ministry and I am also Head Usher. It is an honor to be able to use the skills God has given me to help edify the body at FPBC.  In my free time I enjoy taking walks, golfing, watching sports, cooking and finding new restaurants to enjoy. I also love being able to spend quality time with my 2 adult daughters.

Favorite Bible Verse: Ephesians 2:8-10, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Deacon

Jim Calkins

Hi! I’m Jim. I have been attending FPBC for about 26 years and have been a member for 22 of those years. In addition to being a Deacon, I am the head of Building and Grounds and also am heavily involved in leading the Men’s Small Group. I love to work with my hands and work in mentorships with the younger generation. In addition, I enjoy being able to help others in their spiritual walk and when possible, I love being able to impart wisdom to others that that the Lord has shown me as I have grown in my faith.  I have been married for 29 years and have 4 adult children with whom I enjoy spending time with. I also enjoy being in nature and engaging in a variety of outdoor sports.

Favorite Bible Verse: John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Deacon

Jim Collinet

Hi! My name is Jim and I have been attending FPBC for almost 5 years. I have served as a Deacon for the past 4 years and am also heavily involved in Missions and Outreach at FPBC. Evangelism and missions are very near to my heart. My burden for the lost comes from realizing that if God could reach into my life 30 years ago, then he could reach into anyone’s. I love to share Christ while walking the dog in the community or wherever the Lord takes me. It just comes out of my pores. Serving the family at FPBC brings me joy and is a direct expression of my gift of compassion.  I have a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from UIC and I currently work as a Juvenile Probation Officer for Cook County and have been in this profession for 27 years. In my free time, I enjoy cycling, running, weightlifting, snowboarding, scuba diving and playing hockey. I also love spending time with my great nieces, Charley, Leah, Hanna, Sophia, Cali, and Rosalie.

Favorite Verse: Romans 7:24-25, “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!”

Deaconess

Dana Almaguer

My name is Dana and I have been attending Forest Preserve Bible Church since 2009. I became a member of the church in 2010 and I have been serving as a deaconess for the past 5 years. In addition to deaconess, I have worked as the church clerk for the past 9 years and also am on the financial committee and I volunteer in Children’s Ministry. I enjoy serving at FPBC because I love the people I work with and minister to. FPBC has many devoted congregants who are working hard to make sure that our church remains a church after God‘s own heart as it has been for the last 50 years. I am honored and humbled to be a part of this group. Outside of church, I am teacher at Midwestern Christian Academy. I have been a teacher for most of my adult life, and I am looking forward to retiring in the next five years. As far as hobbies go, I am the world’s biggest Cubs fan and spend way too much time following them and their successes and failures, mostly failures. I love to read and spend time at home with my husband David and my puppies. My husband and I have been married for almost 18 years.  I have 2 adult children, Sara and Grant, as well as 2 grandchildren, Lydia and Lane.

Favorite Bible Verse: 2 Corinthians 4:18, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Deaconess

Amanda M.Rzany

Hey, I’m Amanda and at FPBC I serve as a Deaconess, Worship Director and am the head of the Children’s Ministry. I have been attending FPBC, quite literally, all my life and during this time have participated in many different ministries.  I am so blessed for all of the things God has taught me through these experiences and am grateful that, even today, I am still able to serve in the church that I grew up in. My favorite part of ministry is being able to use my gifts to help others grow in Christ and in their faith. Every member of the body has a purpose and I enjoy being able to help others find theirs.  Music is a passion of mine, and I love being able to use my talents to minister to the congregation every Sunday through worship. I play piano, guitar and am currently learning cello.  If you see me at church, ask me how I got into music. It’s a funny story.   In addition to this, my other hobbies include reading, traveling and spending time with my 3 nephews Denis, Steven and Gabriel.

Favorite Bible Verse: Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
